Get your ornaments for display on the Holiday Hero Tree
October 16, 2020 Greater Freeport Partnership

Freeport – For a second year, the Greater Freeport Partnership is offering clear bulbs to be decorated for placement on the Holiday Hero Tree. Bulbs are decorated by members of the community and will be placed on the holiday tree at the Stephenson County Courthouse from November 22 to January 5. There is no charge to decorate a bulb.

The bulbs are available for pickup at the Greater Freeport Partnership office at 27 W. Stephenson St. in Downtown Freeport. Community members can pick up the bulbs from 8 am to 5 pm on weekdays, decorate them with photos or other memories of their heroes, and then return them to the same office by November 18 to be hung on the tree. The tree lighting ceremony takes place during Mistletoe Walk on November 22.

“Last year it was our great pleasure to have the Holiday Hero Tree here at the Stephenson County Courthouse and we are excited to have it back again this year. The decorated ornaments honoring our heroes is a fantastic addition and we appreciate all who participate,” said Stephenson County Sheriff David Snyders.

Please remember when decorating the bulbs, that the plastic is closed but not water tight. For the safety of precious photos, please use photo copies and other items that are not valuable.  After the tree is taken down in January, community members are welcome to come pick up the bulbs they decorated at the Greater Freeport Partnership office.
