The Greater Freeport Partnership is proud to announce the official launch of Simply Stephenson County, a new tourism brand designed to showcase the communities, attractions, and locally owned businesses of Freeport and Stephenson County as a Midwest outdoor getaway destination.

Unveiled this week to coincide with National Travel and Tourism Week, the brand reflects a growing demand among travelers for meaningful, affordable, and authentic experiences — positioning Stephenson County as a refreshing alternative to crowded, high-cost destinations.

“Simply Stephenson County is more than a tourism campaign—it’s a reflection of who we are,” said Nicole Haas, Marketing & Tourism Director for the Greater Freeport Partnership. “We are a place where you can slow down, reconnect with what matters, and experience something real. This brand captures the simplicity, authenticity, and hospitality that define our communities.”

Through visual storytelling, video content, and curated itineraries, Simply Stephenson County highlights scenic outdoor spaces, vibrant downtowns, and the people and businesses that make the region unique.

The launch of Simply Stephenson County comes at a critical time, as tourism continues to play a vital role in supporting local economies across Illinois and the nation. At the local level, tourism in Stephenson County drives revenue for restaurants, retailers, lodging providers, and event organizers—while also enhancing quality of life for residents. Increased visitation supports job creation, strengthens small businesses, and contributes to the long-term vitality of the region.

“Tourism is economic development,” Haas added. “Every visitor who comes here supports our small businesses, our workforce, and our community. Simply Stephenson County is about telling that story in a way that resonates with today’s traveler.”

As part of the brand launch, the Greater Freeport Partnership is also releasing the Simply Stephenson County Community Guide—a comprehensive resource for visitors and residents with features on attractions, shopping and dining, events, as well as stories on the 100-year anniversary of Freeport High School and Highway 20. The guide will be available at kiosk locations throughout Freeport and Stephenson County, as well as online.

The Greater Freeport Partnership is a catalyst for dynamic economic growth, fostering an inclusive environment where businesses thrive, and our community prospers. We are dedicated to nurturing new opportunities while enriching the fabric of Freeport and Stephenson County.
