Thankfulness

Thankfulness
November 22, 2023 Billy George

As we enter this week of Thanksgiving, it is a great time to remember the many reasons we have to be thankful. In Freeport and Stephenson County, one of the things we can be thankful for is a growing number of local shopping and dining options. Our local merchants are thankful whenever we make the decision to shop locally instead of shopping out of town or online.

With that in mind, we are offering a special promotion for Partnership Cash, our shop local program. From now until December 29, everyone who purchases $100 in Partnership Cash, will receive an extra $20. This allows you to have an even greater impact on the local economy. Purchases of Partnership Cash must be made in person at the Partnership offices at 110 W. Main Street in Freeport with cash or check. Help make this holiday season something everyone, including our local merchants, can be thankful for!

We are thankful for the collaborative partnerships we have throughout our community that support the important work of economic and community development. A testament to the strength of those partnerships was evident at the recent Illinois Main Street Conference. At the statewide conference, the Partnership won three of the six awards presented. Winning Volunteer of the Year was Devin Mielke, from Progressive Fighting Concepts. Volunteer Board Member of the Year went to Josh Elliott, of Elliott Graphix and Zealous Tattoo & Art Studio. Finally, the Chicago Avenue Streetscape Project was awarded the Design Approach Recognition. City Manager Rob Boyer and Andrew Reeter from Fehr Graham were available to receive the award.

We are thankful for these and the many other partnerships which make our work and successes possible!
