Looking Ahead

Looking Ahead
September 4, 2024 Billy George

As we step into a new quarter, we are excited to share the impactful initiatives that are shaping the economic landscape of Freeport and Stephenson County. Our commitment to fostering a thriving community through economic growth, business development, and workforce enhancement continues to drive our efforts.

The Greater Freeport Partnership remains dedicated to cultivating a dynamic economic ecosystem which ensures the retention and attraction of businesses to our region. Our business retention and expansion (BRE) visits continue to be a conduit through which our manufacturing firms and businesses feel heard, and their challenges attended to. In addition, the Partnership has been actively engaging with prospective investors and entrepreneurs, showcasing Freeport’s advantages through targeted outreach, and connecting them with the required resources for success.

At the forefront of our work is the understanding that a robust workforce is crucial for sustained economic growth. The Partnership therefore continues to collaborate with local educational institutions and industry leaders to implement programs that equip our residents with the skills needed to thrive in today’s job market, while paying particular attention to the needs of our local and regional businesses. We are excited to support the Manufacturing Day (October 17, 2024) and career fair events (for high schoolers and students at Highland Community College – November 6, 9 am-2 pm) as we constantly strive to build a quality workforce pool for our region. These programs set our region on a path in ensuring a continuous pipeline of talent for our local businesses.

As an organization, sustainability in every area is a key component of our economic growth strategy. In our quest to connect our industries and businesses with sustainable resources and business practices, our efforts are equally aimed at enhancing our community’s infrastructure through downtown revitalization efforts and support for investments in housing.  Our work in these areas ensures that we foster a vibrant, inclusive and sustainable community even as we create a high quality of life for our residents and a compelling place for businesses to invest.

Finally, as the new addition to a fantastic team, I allude to our community’s successes over the years while also recognizing our immense potential for growth. As we move forward, the Greater Freeport Partnership remains steadfast in its mission to drive economic growth and diversity. We are excited about upcoming initiatives, including new partnerships and projects designed to further enrich our community.

Thank you to the people of Freeport and Stephenson County, our economic development partners, local government authorities, our community institutions and agencies, and our board of directors for your continued support and engagement. Together, we are building a brighter future for Freeport and Stephenson County.
