Service Opportunities
The Greater Freeport Partnership has opportunities to volunteer and engage in community service activities for every interest level and timeframe. Please review the opportunities below and then fill out the Volunteer Interest Form. We look forward to working with you on projects that are making a difference in the lives and communities of Freeport & Stephenson County!
Clean-up Events
The Partnership organizes quarterly clean-up events throughout Stephenson County encouraging residents, businesses and organizations to take pride in our outdoor spaces. Time is spent picking up litter, pulling weeds, and generally beautifying areas that need attention. These efforts are continuous through the year and are available for any hours that volunteers are willing to pitch in.
Event Committees
The Partnership hosts several events each year with the help of wonderful volunteers. Events include but are not limited to Cruise Night, Music on Chicago, Pretzel City Brewfest, and Pretzel City Winefest. Committee members help plan and execute event strategies to entertain and attract residents and visitors to Freeport and Stephenson County.
Host with the Most
There is so much positive momentum occurring in our area, we just need more people to know about it! This volunteer makes an effort to stay informed of great events, efforts and positive news happening in and around Freeport and Stephenson County – and talks about it with their friends! The best way to spread the word is through amazing people who are excited to see the changes and impact they are having on our quality of life and growth of the region.
Design & Placemaking Committee
The Design & Placemaking Committee meets on the second Tuesday of the month at 7:30 am at the Partnership offices. The committee is comprised of City of Freeport staff, business and building owners, and interested community residents. The purpose of the Design & Placemaking Committee is to lead projects and initiatives that will elevate the quality of public space throughout the communities of Stephenson County. We are four standing subcommittees that do focused work in the following areas:
- Beautification / Streetscape Furniture / Signage
- Façade Improvement Program
- Public Art & Placemaking Program
- Downtown Historic Tour
Marketing Committee
The Marketing Committee meets monthly to address the overall marketing and tourism strategy for Stephenson County. The scope of work includes web site design, social media strategy, digital and printed marketing layouts, and printed publications. The group serves as a “think tank” for new ideas, open discussion and overall vision for how Stephenson County should attract and retain employees and visitors to the area. The marketing committee provides guidance on budgets, visitor center goals and objectives, and community event strategies and promotions.
Business Services
The Business Services Committee meets on an as needed basis to provide guidance, direction and support to the Partnership’s business support activities. The committee has conducted business interviews to determine educational interests and needs, helped refine our guide for business start-ups and provided insight in helping shape services to member businesses. Currently, the committee is focusing on developing services and education that is focused on the needs of entrepreneurs and new businesses.
