Economic Development Week, celebrated May 12–16, 2025, is more than just a date on the calendar—it’s a vital moment to reflect on the work that shapes our community’s future. At the Greater Freeport Partnership, we are proud to lead efforts in economic development, tourism, marketing, business services, and Main Street revitalization. This week gives us the opportunity to spotlight how these initiatives come together to support a thriving Freeport and Stephenson County.
Economic development is the backbone of strong, resilient communities. It fuels job creation, drives business expansion, supports entrepreneurs, and lays the foundation for vibrant neighborhoods and public services. When we bring in new businesses or help local ones grow, we’re not just building the economy—we’re enhancing quality of life, increasing local investment, and strengthening our tax base.
This year’s theme, guided by the International Economic Development Council, is rooted in collaboration. We are proud to be a public-private partnership that connects government, businesses, educators, and residents to drive growth and opportunity. Whether it’s revitalizing Main Street, attracting visitors through tourism initiatives, or fostering a business-friendly environment, our mission is to move our region forward.
Throughout the week, we’ll celebrate the impact of our work and invite you to join us—at events, in conversations, and in advocating for the shared prosperity of our region. Economic Development Week is a time to honor progress and set the stage for what’s next. Together, we can continue to build a stronger Freeport and Stephenson County.
